This fall, I experienced my first pedicure treatment at Deva Spa in lower Manhattan. The Spa is an extension of the famed Devachan Salon, which is basically “curly-girl” central in New York City and known for its use of natural products and holistic therapies. I am VERY particular about who performs what service(s) on me and have remained loyal to a particular nail tech at J.Sisters for nearly a decade. However, in the spirit of trying something new and needing a respite from walking the streets of SoHo, I gave Deva a try.
In keeping with its mission of utilizing the most “natural” of products, Deva Spa recently launched nail services offering Zoya Nail Polish. Coupled with Gehwol, Germany’s 100+ year-old dermatologically tested skincare line, nail treatments at Deva are something special.
Special in a sense that procedures are almost clinical. No hands or feet lingering in murky water or heavy creams slathered on (Gehwol products are fast-absorbing). Following a physician-approved step-by-step treatment, all hand, foot and nail treatments are a careful process using only Gehwol products. Eucalyptus salts to exfoliate and refresh, lymphatic draining using Gehwol’s “leg vitality” cream and depending on one’s needs, a bespoke treatment tending to the needs of the nails is offered.
Spa Director Joseph Agostino, who overseas all product selection for Deva, explains that the clientele he serves not only demands it, but deserves a better approach to nail care, and the overall spa experience, which Deva has today become known for. “All nail treatments and services at Deva Spa have been reviewed and are backed by NYC-based podiatrist Dr. Johanna Youner. We utilize the full Gehwol range not only because it is chemical-free clinical skincare, it also offers a touch of luxury that’s been refined over the course more than a century.”
Deva Spa is located at 425 Broome Street in lower Manhattan, New York City. Gehwol hit the mainland seven years ago and the full range is available at Deva Spa.Back to Blog
