Kjaer Weis, NYC-based, Danish-born makeup artist released her first mascara this summer, the latest addition to her organic makeup range. Cool and sustainable packaging aside, Weis’ makeup is a versatile, long-lasting set of color that works on just about every complexion. I met her earlier this year in NYC and noticed her matte, flawless skin as well as how “natural” she looked. Her cream blushes really can light up and enhance a face!
Her namesake mascara is not just another refillable mascara in nice packaging (3 months is what she recommends). Some have called it “game-changing” and after getting my hands on it this spring and carrying it along during my summer hustling, I now fall under that category. Why? It stays on. Truly, it does. All day in the London rain. All weekend in NYC humidity. No product is wasted with this; it is full to the brim and two quick swipes on the lashes will keep you going, with no re-application needed midday. Weis managed to get this product “certified” organic at 99.81 percent, not an easy task for a lash product, but she did and it is.
“My quest to develop mascara that I could include with the rest of my line took a lot of rigorous research and formulation in combination with a proprietary design that could meet my standard of both modern beauty and sustainability.”–Kjaer Weis.
Why wear it? Botanical butter, castor seed oil, rose oil and lavender flower water are just a handful of what was carefully selected to create the product. And no synthetic polymers that will cake and flake on your lashes. I love the packaging and it has proven to be a conversation starter, too. Pull it out of your makeup bag and wait for the compliments.
