The un-official start to summer has come and gone, hence the extra warnings of sunscreen and proper skincare protection. I have never ever been a fan of sunscreen (terrible, I know) and have never fallen into the craze of applying it every hour on the hour, either. For some time, I was unable to find one that agreed with my skin (and my wallet) until I finally settled on the lightweight and highly effective SPF mositurizer from the French labs of Clarins. Just what I need to protect my cocoa skin!
This year, I discovered Soleil Organique, a nicely packaged organic, mineral and marine-based line of suncare goodies. Founder Valerie McMurray has explained that as a child, there was no “chemical-free suncare” available. Who want’s to feel sticky and gross while outdoors? Not McMurray. As with a number of brands with integrity I’ve come across, McMurray worked to develop a line based on personal experiences. The result is an eco-friendly, vegan, paraben-free collection of products containing her proprietary EcoSunComplex, a careful combination of vitamins C Ester and E, red algae and more.
Also rolling out now is a great new SPF 30 from Dermalogica. The no frills brand has always been a leader in skin and suncare, and this season it’s been stepped up a notch with its Oil Free Matte SPF 30. Just the right amount of protection with no greasy or pore-clogging residue, Dermalogica’s latest is compact, travel-ready and a summer must. It’s excellent when mixed in with a day moisturizer; leaves no chalky mess on the skin and absorbs fast.
Am looking forward to working with Soleil Organique’s line this season. The Environmental Defense Anti-Age Primer is already in the bag, along with Clarins and Dermologica. All carry just the right amounts of what I need–skincare and suncare rolled into one.
