Attention New Yorkers! Japan’s well-known and loved (prestigious) nail care brand “Nail Quick” has landed in the US, and we are the lucky city to experience it first. Founded in 1996 by a very entrepeneurial Columbia MBA, the Nail Quick brand has grown to 71 locations around Japan and offers standard nail care–manis, pedis–as well as parfait gelatin services. That’s right, gelatin. All the glam and style of CalGel, but nearly 50% less acidic and lasts just as long.
The lower Manhattan location is simply named “Spa Nail”, and that is what is is. A tranquil, airy, bamboo paneled space that educates clients on the proper way to care for your newly styled gel nails. Education is important, the spa manager tells me, due to the popularity of the embellished nail trend and the repeat customers who change styles as often as their outfits. One strong selling point for Spa Nail is their use of a more gentle and less evasive LED light system. Same drying time, and healthier for the hand and nail bed.
Branded as “Spa Nail” in the US, its SoHo location is open seven days a week and is a pretty place to step into if looking to escape the streets of SoHo. Check them out at 120 Sullivan Street for their Osaka Express Manicure or Nihonbashi Sweet Pedicure. Thankfully for us working girls, they take appointments until 8pm!
