Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to meet Suresh, international make-up artist and all-around dapper New Yorker. Sitting upstairs at Chelsea’s New London Pharmacy, Suresh gave me the low-down on his new (and gorgeous) lip color collection that dropped last week.
Suresh has worked backstage as a key artist at shows and collaborated with designers on color and coordination. He launched his lip color collection (simply titled SURESH) to impressive reviews, and continues to grown his line.
In addition to the new lipsticks ( of which he personally autographed the side of each tube!) we can expect more from Suresh, and soon. A bronzer this sumer (perfect timing) and blush come Fall. Read on for snippets of my interview with Suresh, and find your inspiration on the counter at New London Pharmacy, New York.
You are known for your range of lip wear. Are there plans to build on your brand?
Suresh: I’m planning to launch lipsticks in May, a bronzer over the summer, and blush products in the Fall.
As a professional makeup artist, what was it like to bring your brand to market?
The cosmetic market is very crowded and very competitive. I found that by sticking to my story, my vision, and my brand, I have been able to persevere and grow. The reception has been great. I feel that many women are constantly seeking new, innovative products.
What was the inspiration behind your new colors launching this month?
My lipstick collection was created to add more layers to the SURESH brand. And to provide more versatility to my customer’s lip wardrobe. All the colors are laced in 24K gold, diamonds, Tahitian vanilla, as well as many vitamins and antioxidants. They are all named after men in my life; my Dad, best friends, etc.
Describe the “Suresh” woman.
She is an educated, cultured, career woman. She appreciates her independence and definitely looks for quality over quantity. Her makeup wardrobe is highly edited. She covets brands that are exclusive and not over-exposed to the masses.
As a professional makeup artist, what excites you the most about the industry?
The advances in makeup and ingredient technology. The incredibly fast pace that things move at.
