the power of marula

African Botanics’ Neroli Infused Marual Oil. Must-have.

Four years of research and development and et voila! The team at African Botanics has (as of June 2012) brought pure marula oil to market. And what is marula, you ask? Only one of the oldest, purest and effective healing of oils found across Africa. This wonder oil gets to work on fine lines, wrinkles and has more than enough of the recommended daily dose of fatty acids–some of the best skin-saving elements a girl needs.

Founders and South African natives Craig and Julia Noik saw the need introduce marula to the masses, and thankfully the brand is now well-stocked at Space NK’s across the USA. A gorgeous range of oils, balms (if you haven’t tried the Firming Body Balm, it’s time to get on it) and scrubs have all been formulated with pure marula from South Africa and attack most, if not all skin issues–dryness, elasticity, etc. What’s not to like?

Across Africa, marula is a sort of healing agent used by both women and men. Historical evidence points to marula being in existence for thousands of years. Once cracked open, the nuts produce a very oil-rich compound, hence marula.

Must try, must-have from African Botanics: Marula Firming Body Balm. This balm is a non-greasy, soft and fast-absorbing one that feels so nice on the skin. If anything, the texture makes you want to use more and more. Company executives tell me it is quickly becoming a sort of cult product amongst pregnant women for its chemical-free composition, softness and sweet scent. And of course, the Pure Marula Oil should also be kept around. With multiple uses–face, neck, or all over, African Botanics’ Pure Marula Oil is an excellent skin protectant and hydrator.

All products in the line are fair trade, eco-frienldy and sourced from protected areas across South Africa, where Marula is apparently quite abundant. Marula is the most oxidant-stable oil (OXYGEN!) in the world and is known to outperform all other natural oils. Thankfully for us, it is stateside now.

Expert tips from the Founders of African Botanics: The marula oil works with any product in the line. Try a scrub first, then blend a bit of Pure Maruala Oil with a Body Balm. Hydration and a deep glow guaranteed.
