French perfumer Francis Kurkdjian never disappoints. Pick a mood, an emotion or a style and he has or will design the most perfect scent to match.
As spring approached, we discovered his most recent (and delicious) fragrance: OUD Satin Mood, the latest in his fabric-inspired OUD range. Now, you are probably thinking, why OUD, and why for summer? Yes, OUD’s tend to be on the heavier, woodsy side of scents. But leave it to the Master Perfumer to blend his latest to perfection–with just enough of what he needs so as to not weigh the fragrance down at all. In his own words, we learn what inspired this silky scent:
“With your eyes closed, you can imagine flowing fabrics delicately draped over bare skin, caressed by intense and dazzling sunlight. You will want to wrap it around you, lose yourself in the depth of the moment and suspend time. Transported by the finesse of a violet accord, oud wood from Laos curls on contact with rose essence from Bulgaria and rose absolute from Turkey. A rich vanilla and amber accord adds softness to this vibrant composition.”
The notes in his latest OUD are evident, subtle and seductive: violet and vanilla accord blended with the de-facto oriental and woody notes of oud. Not too heavy and yes, can work perfectly on a summer evening.
